Netflix has released a new trailer for its upcoming thriller drama series Ripleywhich is based on the author Patricia Highsmith classic novel, The talented Mr. Ripley. It looks like it’s going to be a great show!
The series is the protagonist Andrea Scott, who plays the main character, a con man living in early 1960s New York. “He is hired by a rich man to travel to Italy to try to convince his wandering son Dickie Greenleaf to return home. Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step towards a complex life of deceit, fraud and murder. Meanwhile, Marge Sherwood, an American living in Italy, suspects that there are darker motives behind Tom’s affability.
The series will be able to dive more into the story and characters than the 1999 film adaptation starring Matt Damon and Jude Law. Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf, Eliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi, Margherita Buy AND John Malkovich.
The series is written and directed by the Oscar-nominated director Steven Zaillian (The Search for Bobby Fisher, All the King’s Men, The Night Of). It will be released on Netflix on April 4th.
