One of the most exciting things about the upcoming film ghost Buster franchising, Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire, is that the original cast returns and their roles will be more than just cameos. According to the director Gil Kenan, Bill Murray, Dan AykroydAND Ernie Hudson this time they will be “real characters” who will feel “more fully fleshed out”.
The director shared with SFX magazine, “There comes a point in every story where the task of surviving, of defeating what you’re facing, will require you to take action.”
He went on to talk about the original cast’s involvement in the story, saying, “This is the moment that’s really thrilling for me as a Ghostbusters fan: seeing their involvement in the story redefine and grow and become more fully fleshed out in a way that speaks to the promise of the original ghost Buster AND Ghostbusters 2and what was glimpsed in the fields outside Summerville in Beyond. There’s a direct line from there to who they are now and how they behave in our new story.”
Kenan went on to say that they would be treated as “real characters. We had a duty to make those legendary characters an integral part of this story.”
It’s great to know that these characters will finally be back in full force! While it was fun to see them in Afterlife, I would have loved to see more of them, and now fans will get that experience in Frozen Empire, which is really cool!
In Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire, “the Spengler family returns to where it all began – the iconic New York firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who have developed a top-secret research laboratory to take ghost busting to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, the old and new Ghostbusters must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife director and co-writer Jason Reitmann he is the screenwriter and executive producer of the new film. The film is also the protagonist Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjianicomic James AcasterAND Emily Alyn Lind they joined the cast! They join returning cast members Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn WolfhardAND McKenna Grace. Annie Potts she also returned as Janine Melnitz.
