Sylvester Stallone he recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and while there he talked about a conversation he had with him Ryan Gosling. By the end of that conversation, Stallone wanted Gosling to take over his iconic role Rambo if he ever decided to pass the baton. Stallone said:
“I met [Ryan Gosling] at a dinner. Obviously we are opposites. She looks great. They are not. Seriously! Could you imagine me as Ken? It doesn’t work at all….[Ryan] he says, “I was fascinated by Rambo, and I would go to school dressed as Rambo, and people would chase me away and I still wouldn’t stop.” I would go on vacation as Rambo.” He kept saying he had a lot of affiliation with Rambo. And I thought, you know, that’s interesting. If I ever pass the baton, I’ll pass it to him because he loves the character.”
That’s nice of Stallone, but there’s really only one Rambo and no one could or should replace Stallone as a character. When Stallone is done, the franchise should end. But you know how Hollywood is, so maybe one day we’ll see Gosling star in a Rambo movie.
John Rambo is a former Green Beret and Vietnam War veteran. The franchise follows Rambo’s journey as he navigates various conflicts, often finding himself as a lone warrior fighting against oppressive forces. The character’s struggle with the traumas of war and his relentless pursuit of justice form the central themes of the franchise. Over several films, fans witness Rambo’s transformation from a troubled veteran with severe PTSD seeking comfort to an iconic action hero who finds determination in the face of adversity.
What do you think about Stallone wanting Gosling to take Rambo’s place?
