Chinese born in America actor Ben Wang he’s the next Karate Kid! The young actor was chosen to star alongside Ralph Macchio AND Jackie Chan in the new Karate Kid film set at Sony Pictures. According to the report, “Wang gave an amazing audition that demonstrated her deep connection to the character.”
Wang is also fluent in Mandarin and is skilled in many forms of martial arts, including Karate, Wing Chun/Kung Fu, Gumdo, Kempo and Taekwando.
There are no story details to share yet, but Macchio will reprise his role as Daniel LaRusso and Chan will take on the role of Mr. Han, the film’s kung fu master Jaden Smith. Worlds are colliding! The film “will mark a continuation of the mythology of the original franchise.”
The film will be directed by Jonathan Entwistle (The end of the damn world) from a screenplay written by Rob Lieber, with Karen Rosenfelt producing. The film is scheduled for release by Sony Pictures on December 13, 2024.
