GREMLINS 3 Update from original star Zack Galligan

Over the years there has been talk about the possibility of a Gremlins 3 a movie will happen one day. At one point there was a script written for the sequel, but there’s been no real movement on it. The latest update is from the original Gremlins star Zach Galliganwho played Billy Peltzer in the 1984 horror comedy, and believes the film will get made sooner or later.

During an interview with ScreenRant, the actor said he believes the animated series, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, will lead to Warner Bros. producing a “live-action film.” He shared:

“I do. I really can’t understand why Warner Bros. would make two seasons – not one, but two seasons – of the animated series, and spend a lot of money on it, unless there was some sort of And usually the ending for a big studio like Warner Bros. Discovery is a live-action movie.

“A live-action movie is always where you make the most money. Super Mario Bros. just proved it. . . the ending will probably be, I hope, a third film. I don’t think it will be a reboot, though, because Chris Columbus nixed that idea. He owns part of the rights.

Chris Columbus previously offered an update on a third film, saying, “I’d love to do that. I wrote a script, so there is an existing script. We’re sorting out some rights issues right now, so we’re just trying to figure out when would be the best time to make that movie. I would still do it the same way: I would do it as tangible puppets, not CGI. Maybe having… you know we had a stop-motion scene in the first Gremlins, but I don’t think I would use a lot of CGI in Gremlins 3.”

The screenplay was written by the screenwriter Carl Ellsworth who previously shared that the film was “intended as a direct sequel primarily to the first film, not excluding the second in any way, but I saw it more as a passing of the torch story, staying within the tone of the film.” original. I think that helped me get the job: I said, ‘Yes, there’s a lot of humor in the film, aided by Jerry Goldsmith’s classic score which gives us license to laugh, but it’s first and foremost a horror film. ‘”

Ellsworth continued, “These little creatures…what they really do, they’re cold-blooded little murderers, you know? They are psychotic little creatures who are killing everyone. So that’s where it all started. I tried to preserve the humor, but at the same time I started with the
basis for this to be a horror film, which I was really excited about.

Speaking previously about the script, Columbus said it was “twisted and dark.” I would love to see this movie made, which would not only see the return of original star Galligan as Billy Peltzer, but would also bring back his girlfriend, played by Phoebe Cates. But it is explained that “Gizmo was at the center of the story; he explored more of the mythology and history of the Gremlins.

It would be really cool if a Gremlins sequel happened after all these years, but we’ll just have to wait and see what WB ends up doing.
