Director Adam McKayThe non-profit organization Yellow Dot Studios has launched a social media campaign #ImWithScience and several videos have been released over the past week. The only video that went viral stars The office‘S Rainn Wilson and it’s a parody of Game of Thrones.
The video is titled “A Tale of Fire and Ice” and Wilson introduces himself as a climate scientist brought from the future to warn the court of Westeros, composed of Queen Cersai (Lena Headey), Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) on the dangers of “Big Oil”.
Wilson said in a statement about these videos: “Science, like everything else these days, has been grotesquely politicized. The climate catastrophe is the greatest test our crazy and fragile species has ever faced.”
McKay said in a statement: “Scientists do not own television news stations nor do they have the ability to give televised speeches whenever they want. But what they are trying to tell us needs to be amplified and understood. We do not support big oil companies, their lobbies and their advertising money. You’re on the side of science.”
