Netflix has released the trailer for the true crime documentary Lover, stalker, murderer, which follows the crazy story of an internet romance gone wrong. The paper is directed by Sam Hobkinson (Fear City: New York against the mafia). Executive producers are Dov Freedman and Charlie Russell, with Sophie Clayton-Payne producing. It is a production of Curious Films (Running with the devil).
The synopsis reads:
“Dave recently got out of a long-term relationship and was eager to restart his romantic life, so he did what most people do: he tried online dating. Liz and Cari were two of his most promising acquaintances, both single moms with winning personalities who helped him break out of his shell in different ways. It should have been an opportunity for this devoted, hard-working father to enjoy a second chance at casual romance, but it turned into a twisted love triangle, putting Dave and everyone he cared about at risk. Using interviews with those involved – including the law enforcement officers who cracked the case – along with vivid reenactments that bring viewers into the tension and paranoia of Dave’s four-year nightmare, this documentary deftly assembles the pieces of a shocking story of harassment. , digital deception and murder in the heartland of America.”
It seems like an excellent documentary for fans of the true crime genre. The story seemed familiar to me when I watched the trailer and realized that when I went to see my favorite podcast, “My Favorite Murder,” live in Omaha, Nebraska, they covered this story. If you are interested in the case and its details, you can listen to it here. Check out the documentary trailer below and watch Lover, stalker, murderer on Netflix on February 9th.
