As you know, Marvel Echo went through many changes before debuting on Disney+, and Daredevil originally had a larger role in the series. In the series, Charlie CoxDaredevil only appears in the first episode for a fight scene with Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox).
Daredevil was also used heavily in the series’ marketing, but his screen time only lasted about 90 seconds. The character originally had a larger role in the series and now some details have emerged about his initial involvement. Marvel fuck @CanWeGetToast shared these details. Some of it is a little choppy, but it’s not difficult to fit the puzzle pieces together.
In an earlier version of the series, Matt Murdock would have been Maya’s contact in New York to keep her updated. In episode 2, he would contact Matt to see if anyone in New York had noticed that he had bombed one of Kingpin’s armories. He tells her that she only has a couple of days before his men show up.
In episode 5, Maya asks Matt who would make a play for Wilson Fisk’s territory, and in the finale, which was apparently the scrapped sixth episode, Maya would text Daredevil to tell him to “do it,” meaning that he should gather his friends in New York to defeat The Kingin’s empire.
This would have led to a great flashback where Matt ends up saving Maya after she shoots Fisk in the face. The original plan would have seen Maya arrested rather than escape and she would end up making a deal with the FBI to give them the information they needed to take down Fisk once and for all.
Echo It was originally supposed to end with Maya returning to New York to take care of some unfinished business, and that created a role for her Daredevil: Born Again.
I’m not sure if any of this is true, but there’s an interesting story there. Echo It sure has changed a lot! I liked how the series turned out. Kevin Feige he obviously felt it wasn’t working and decided that cutting Daredevil and simplifying the story was the right thing to do.
What do you think of these rumored details? Did you like it Echo? Would you have liked to see more Daredevil?
