Some new details have emerged for a new character introduced in ghost Buster franchising in Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire. The character’s name is Lars Pinfield and is played by the British comedian and podcaster James Acaster.
Pinfield is described as “a man responsible for some of the new technology funded by Ernie Hudson’s Winston – and is set to fit firmly into the Ghostbusters universe.” Producer Jason Retiman he goes on to say in an interview with Empire that he’s an Egon Spengler-type character, saying, “James doesn’t play a Spengler, but he’s really in line with the Egon Spengler ‘type.'”
He seems like he could be a fun or annoying character. We’ll find out soon enough, but it makes sense that the creative team would want to bring in a new young technician to create some new Ghostbuster gear.
In the story, New York City finds itself frozen by an ancient artifact that unleashes an evil force! Plus, the original Ghostbusters return! The synopsis reads:
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all began, the iconic New York firehouse, to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who have developed a top-secret research laboratory to bring ghost eradication to a higher level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, the Old and Old Ghostbusters must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife co-writer and executive producer Gil Kenan is directing the sequel, with the director and co-writer of Afterlife Jason Reitmann serving as writer and executive producer. The film is also the protagonist Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjianicomic James AcasterAND Emily Alyn Lind they joined the cast. They join returning cast members Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn WolfhardAND McKenna Grace. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, AND Ernie Hudson we are all back for the new adventure too!
The film is scheduled for release on March 29, 2024.
