GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE Director Says ‘Strange As F**k Bad’ Films Were Inspired By REAL GHOSTBUSTERS

We have some fun new details to share with you Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire, the inspiration behind it and the wild new supernatural spooky villains it will introduce. According to the director Gil Kenana lot of inspiration was taken from the fan-favorite cartoon series The real Ghostbusterswho did some really crazy things, which I loved!

While speaking to Empire, Kenan revealed this The real Ghostbusters inspired the new film with its “wild, original, weird-as-hell villains.” She added: “We wanted to bring the ease and courage of that show into this film. I think it will surprise people how great this film is.”

Co-writer and producer Jason Reitmann he went on to say that other ’80s films also played a role in inspiring the story of Frozen Empire. He explained: “John Hughes was a great touchstone. That thing about a family in a station wagon, living in a run-down house, with teenagers rebelling against their parents. [Finn Wolfhard’s] Trevor’s 18 now, so he’s like, ‘I’m an adult!'”

It’s not all! You’ll even find some Wes Anderson influence in the film! Reitman added: “We wanted it Royal Tenenbaums it’s kind of like a family living on top of each other… but in the Ghostbusters firehouse,” he added. “We see the firehouse a lot more than in any previous Ghostbusters movie. What is it like to sleep there, do laundry there? What’s the attic like?”

You know what? As a fan of the Ghostbusters cartoon series, I love that they looked to this movie for inspiration! It will be funny! What do you think of the past projects that inspired the film?

In the story, New York City finds itself frozen by an ancient artifact that unleashes an evil force! In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all began, the iconic New York firehouse, to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who have developed a top-secret research laboratory to bring ghost eradication to a higher level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, the Old and Old Ghostbusters must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Movie stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, AND Ernie Hudson. They will join Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, comic James AcasterAND Emily Alyn Lind!

Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire will be released in theaters on March 22.
