Despite what you might think about Hollywood awards shows, or the projects that won or lost last Sunday night, a fantastic thing happened behind the scenes at this weekend’s Golden Globes that will warm anyone’s heart. Star Wars fan. Marco Hamillwho presented an award that evening, was able to meet his fellow presenter and Oscar winner Natalie Portman.
While Hamill fans know him best as Luke Skywalker, most Portman fans know her for her award-winning roles as Black Swan, Jackieor this year’s May December. Others have enjoyed her bizarre roles in films such as The professional OR State of the gardenbut Star Wars fans will always remember that she played Queen Padmé Amidala in Star Wars episodes 1-3, where she became the love interest of future Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), and Luke and Leia’s mother.
But it wasn’t until this week that Hamill and Portman actually crossed paths, which is surprising because you’d think they’d meet at one of the movie premieres or a Star Wars fan event, but it’s true. The couple decided to take a photo to mark the occasion, and Hamill shared it on his social media, stating: “Now I’ve finally met my “mother”, thanks to the @goldenglobes.
