Superman: Legacy star Rachel Brosnahan broke her silence regarding the role of Lois Lane James Gunnthe DC movie. He offers new insights into how he’s preparing for the role and what he hopes for the film.
While on the Golden Globes red carpet, the actress was asked what she would bring to Lois that we hadn’t seen before, she said:
“We had many interesting conversations, David [Corenswet] and I, with James Gunn the director, have talked a lot about how this project fits into the ‘Superman’ canon and we know that hopefully that will put our own stamp on things.
I love that Brosnahan was cast as Lois! She’s perfect for the role, and while she doesn’t reveal much here, I can’t wait to see what her interpretation of her character will be. Asked whether she will wear glasses in the film, which is the next worst question, she replied: “I don’t know actually. Maybe. We’re not there yet with the rehearsals.”
Phoebe Dynevor, who was previously up for the role of Lois, offered some insight into what this version of Lois Lane will be like, explaining that “She saves Superman.” She said:
“It was a whirlwind and then I knew it was over, but it was great. Save Superman. She is the brain; in reality she is the one without fear.
This is something fans have always known about Lois Lane, but it will be interesting to see how Gunn and Brosnahan put their own stamp on this.
The film is also the protagonist David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Mercede as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific, Skyler Gisondo like Jimmy Olsen, and María Gabriela de Faría in the role of Angela Spica, aka The Engineer. There is also Sara Sampaiowho was cast as Eve Teschmacher, the assistant and sometimes lover of the scheming villain Lex Luthor.
Superman: Legacy will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman: Legacy will launch the cinematic portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. The theatrical release is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
