David Ayer confirms he’s done with DC and the Director’s Cut of SUICIDE SQUAD

In recent years director David Ayer he spoke about his real side Suicide squad and how much better it is than the studio-released version of the film. It thrilled many fans to see this epic vision of Suicide squadbut the director confirmed that he is “done with DC” and will no longer push for his Suicide squad extended cut.

After his initial post on XSaying “I’m done with DC,” one fan asked him if he would still petition to release the extended cut of Suicide Squad, to which he replied, “No. Done and done. Very sad. You’ll be fine.” after a good cry. I feel healthier. It’s a wound that needs to heal.”

Ayer was then asked if the whole DC Studios revamp had anything to do with him giving up on the director’s cut of Suicide Squad, and he said, “Nothing about the situation looks good. [The] the studio has no interest in releasing it. It’s time to run and not look back.”

In another post, Ayer added: “I don’t need to walk around with a begging bowl. I will protect my heart more moving forward.”

It appears the director got some hard truths slapped on him after saying his director’s cut of Suicide Squad was “coming.” It’s a bit of a shame to hear that, but life goes on.

When Ayer was previously asked about his biggest heartbreak in Hollywood, he went on to explain that Suicide Squad broke him, saying: “Hollywood – I tell people – is like watching someone you love get fucked by someone you hate. The highlight is “Suicide Squad”. That shit destroyed me. This one kicked my ass.

You can tell he hated that experience. Every time he talks about it, every time he responds to a fan about it, he tries to explain as best he can that the studio screwed him. He went on to talk about how everything fell apart for the film: “You come straight from ‘Fury,’ right? I had the city in my hands: I could have done anything, and I did anything, and [I] embark on this journey with [‘Suicide Squad’]. And the same thing: authentic, truthful, we do all the tests, we really get into each other’s souls. Let’s create this amazing, collaborative thing, right? And then “Deadpool” came out, right? And they never tested “Batman v. Superman,” so they expected a different result, and then they got hammered by all the critics. Then it was like, ‘Okay, now we’re going to turn David Ayer’s dark, soulful movie into a damn comedy.'”

Speaking previously about his original version of the film, the director said: “All I know is that my unseen film works much better than the studio release. The interest in my cut on display feels real and organic. And Gunn told me it was time to share it. He absolutely deserves to launch his own DC universe without further drama over old projects. I’m kind of chained to this thing. I’m riding a tiger and dealing with this situation as best I can. Life is a very strange journey.”

So, now it’s time to let it go. We will never see Ayer’s original vision Suicide squad.
