Actor Henry Cavill is one of the stars of this incredibly fun-looking spy thriller Argyleby the director Matthew Vaughn. Cavill plays a spy named Argylle in the film, similar to the James Bond character, who the actor was famously in the running to play when it was his turn and Daniel Craig. We all know how she turned out, but since Craig is now done with the role, Cavill is still a viable and widely discussed choice.
When asked if he thought this current role would help or hurt his attempt at playing 007, Cavill told Total Film:
“He’s a fun character. Whether or not I will be dropped from Bond for this reason is up to Barbara Broccoli and Mr. Wilson.
Cavill knows he’s completely dependent on the James Bond producers, and it’s smart of him to continue his career, because who knows what they’ll do next. They already ignored it once, but I think it would be a mistake for them to do it again. Henry Cavill is done playing Superman, he doesn’t play Geralt anymore, and he’s obviously the perfect choice for Bond, so they should just make it happen.
In the meantime we can watch Cavill enter Argyle next to Bruce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Bryan Cranston, Sofia Boutella, Ariana De Bose, Catherine O’HaraAND Samuel L. Jackson.
Argyle will be released in theaters on February 2, 2024.
