ECHO director reveals that the series will feature “a number of cameos” from the MCU

Some new details have emerged regarding Marvel’s upcoming series Echo. According to the director of the series Sydney Freeland, the show will include several cameos from the MCU. We already know that Daredevil will make an appearance and we recently saw a fight scene between him and Echo. As for the other cameos, the director told TV Line:

“There are numerous cameos in our series, and fans of the MCU will see characters from other films and shows that they will recognize. But at the same time, you don’t have to have done your homework to get to this. People who aren’t familiar with the MCU can still jump in and watch it.

It will be interesting to see what other characters end up appearing in the series. It seems like some fans are hoping to see Spider-Man get into action, but if that happens, there’s a better chance we’ll see him in action. Daredevil: Born Againwhich is said to lead to the events of Spider-Man 4. But these are just the first rumors that could end up being nothing.

What other MCU characters do you think will appear in Echo? Are there any characters you’d like to see appear in the Marvel movie series or TV shows?

The series centers on Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) as he “struggles to reconnect with his Native American roots while balancing aspirations of a life of crime as the successor to Wilson Fisk’s brutal legacy (Vincenzo D’Onofrio) aka Kingpin. In the first episode we are introduced to Maya Lopez and her struggles.”

Echo will be the first project under a new banner known as Marvel Spotlight, and streaming head Brad Winderbaum said: “Marvel Spotlight gives us a platform to bring more grounded, character-driven stories to the screen and, in the case of Echo, focusing about the street-level stakes of a broader MCU continuity. Just as comic book fans didn’t need to read Avengers or Fantastic Four to enjoy a Ghost Rider Spotlight comic, our audience doesn’t need to have seen any other Marvel series to understand what’s going on in Maya’s story.

Echo is developed by Ethan Cohen AND Emily Cohen, who are writers and executive producers of the show. The series is also the protagonist Charlie CoxZahn McClarnon, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Cody Lightning, Devery JacobsAND Graham Greene.

All five episodes will release on Disney+ and Hulu on April 9, 2024.
