Apple Original Films received a Critics Choice Award and Golden Globe Award today, directed by Martin Scorsese Flower Moon Killer will be available worldwide to stream on Apple TV+ from Friday 12 January.
It comes after the film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, grossed $156 million worldwide, with a breakout performance from Lily Gladstone. Apple’s launch of the film, which begins with a premiere in Cannes and then a full worldwide theatrical release by Paramount, sets an intriguing template for future big-budget streamer films. It lands on the streaming service during awards season and is considered a frontrunner.
Flower Moon Killer was named best film of the year by the National Board of Review, received twelve Critics Choice Award nominations and seven Golden Globe Awards, and was also named to the American Film Institute’s list of films of the year. The film also made the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Oscar shortlists for Best Makeup and Hair, Best Sound, Best Original Score and Best Original Song, and was named the #1 Best Film of 2023 by The New York . Times and The New Yorker, in addition to recognition from more than twenty critics worldwide, including Best Picture from the New York Film Critics Circle. Tonight, “Killers of the Flower Moon” will receive the Vanguard Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards Gala.
Adapted from the David Grann book by Eric Roth and Scorsese, Flower Moon Killer Set in 1920s Oklahoma, the film chronicles the serial killings of members of the oil-rich Osage Nation, a series of brutal crimes that became known as the “Reign of Terror.” The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins and Jillian Dion.
Backed by Apple Studios, the film was produced by Apple in association with Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions and Appian Way. Producers include Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas, Martin Scorsese and Daniel Lupi, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Adam Somner, Marianne Bower, Lisa Frechette, John Atwood, Shea Kammer and Niels Juul serving as executive producers.
