Scarlett Johansson worked on the development of a Tower of Terror for Disney in recent years. The film will be an adaptation of The twilight zone-themed attraction that was replaced in Disneyland by Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout stroll. Tower of Terror it was a much more fantastic and timeless ride. Mission evasion It already seems dated. But, Tower of Terror it still exists at Disney World!
So, where is the project currently at? During a recent interview on Today, Johansson offered an update, saying:
It’s based on running. Now that the writers’ strike is over, we can finally get back to refining the script. So it’s a huge undertaking… huge. But I’m a big Disney guy [fan]… I love Disney parks.
Taika Waititi he was attached to the film as director, and I assume he still is, but that can all change. Tower of Terror was previously adapted into a 1997 TV movie starring Steve Guttenberg AND Kirsten Dunst. Disney’s new adaptation was first written by John August (Big fish AND Frankenweenie), and with this,Toy story 4 director e In reverse scribe Josh Cooley Is writing.
There’s no full synopsis, but the film is said to be about five people in a posh hotel who take an elevator and disappear after being struck by lightning.
August previously spoke about his side of the story, saying: “The central idea was that the elevator in the building moved through time. A 1920s bandleader and a 2020s urban spelunker must escape through many eras of Los Angeles’ history, dating back to the Stone Age. It was a little Time Banditsa bit groundhog daya bit Back to the Future. I think it would have been fun. But that wasn’t what Disney wanted. (And then the race was over.)”
Sounds like it would have been fun! But it will be interesting to see what Johansson and his creative team come up with.
