Some interesting new details have emerged about the story of Lucasfilm’s upcoming Disney+ series. The Acolyte. The first footage from the series debuted last year at Star Wars Celebration in London, and has fans excited for what this series will have to offer.
The footage was leaked at some point, and a description of it began making the rounds online after it was taken down. This caused some confusion regarding some actors apparently playing different roles than previous reports indicated. Now we have an explanation thanks to this new information that has come to light.
While there are no major revelations here, I just want to issue a spoiler warning. These details come from movie industry scoop Daniel Richtman, and he says so both Amanda Stenberg AND Manny Giacinto he will play two different characters.
It is explained that Stenberg will play Force-sensitive twins and both are of Sith origin. One of the twins will remain with the Sith, while the other will be taken and trained by the Jedi.
The story is said to follow the “evil sister” as she becomes a Sith Assassin, tasked with eliminating a Jedi Master, played by Carrie Anne Moss.
Moss’ character is a Jedi warrior known for defeating her enemies without using her lightsaber, so the Sith assassin vows to learn martial arts and kill the Jedi Master only using her hand-to-hand combat skills.
As for Jacinto’s characters, it is explained that he will play “both versions of his character. One good personality, the other bad.” Not much other information about the character was shared.
Showrunner Leslye Promontory he has already stated this previously The Acolyte will devote a lot of screen time to the “antagonists” and described it as “Frozen meet Kill Bill.” He shared that the story will be told from the villains’ point of view and is set between the High Republic and the beginning of the prequel trilogy, “because that’s where the villains are outnumbered.”
The series has been described as a “spiritual war” and includes conflicts between siblings and parents, as well as a conflict between a master and an apprentice. It was reiterated that the project is very inspired by samurai films. It is said to focus on the emergence of the Sith, a group of Dark Jedi determined to conquer the galaxy. The term “acolyte” was used in Star Wars universe to describe the soldiers of the powerful Sith Lords.
Star Dafne Keen he later revealed that the series will focus on the Sith infiltrating the Jedi. He said, “No, I mean, as you know, it’s set 100 years before the prequel films, and it’s kind of an explanation of how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi. It’s a Sith-driven story, which has never been done before. It was really fun to film – the cast is amazing and the director and crew are just lovely. The whole experience is wonderful and I’m already excited for people to see it.”
This story is set in the High Republic era and is described as “a mystery thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of dark secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with his Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they face are more sinister than they ever anticipated.” The series is set 100 years before the franchise’s prequel trilogy. The era of the High Republic is known as the Golden Age of the Jedi, a time when the ancient order was at its height.
I’m actually pretty excited about this series and the story it will tell. I hope the creative team makes a great, fun, and clever Star Wars adventure!
Also includes the cast of the series Lee Jung Jae (Squid game), Manny Giacinto (The good place), Carrie-Anne Moss (The matrix), Charlie Barnett (Russian doll), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), AND Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen and slim).
