We first told you that Sony had won the theatrical distribution deal to produce the Jon Watts-directed thriller George Clooney and Brad Pitt from Apple Original Films wolves, as well as the Greg Berlanti director Scarlett Johansson-Channing Tatum film, formerly known as Project Artemis (title follows). We’ve heard they’ve been given a 2024 release date, and here they are: The latter will hit theaters next year on July 12 Wolves hits theaters on September 20.
Both titles are displayed in premium large format. Wolves also get access to Imax.
Berlanti directed and produced from a screenplay by Rose Gilroy. The project is not yet known, but is set against the backdrop of the space race of the 1960s. The ensemble cast also includes Jim Rash, Emmy winner Ray Romano, newcomer Anna Garcia, Donald Elise Watkins, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Nick Dillenburg as well as Christian Zuber and Woody Harrelson. In addition to starring, Johansson also serves as a producer under her These Pictures banner. Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn are producing with Johansson for These Pictures. Sarah Schechter is producing for Berlanti Productions. Robert Dohrmann is executive producer and Apple Studios serves as the studio.
Watts wrote and directed Wolves In it, Clooney and Pitt are portrayed as two lone fighters who are given the same task. Oscar nominee and SAG Award winner Amy Ryan also stars. Watts and Dianne McGunigle produced. Clooney is producing with Grant Heslov through Smokehouse Pictures. Pitt is producing alongside Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment.
Sony won both films following the success of Apple’s Ridley Scott-directed epic Napoleon which is on its way to $200 million at the box office.
