In the most recent episode of Kevin SmithOn the Fatman Beyond podcast, the director offered an update on his third Jay and Bob silent movie. Yes, Smith is making another one Jay and Bob silent film and is looking to start shooting it next year, in 2024.
Smith also developed a sequel to Mallrats, but it seems Jay and Silent Bob 3 it will happen before that. He said: “I didn’t think I would do it for a long time, but I had an idea and thought, ‘I’ll just fucking follow it and see where it leads,’ and it’s led to something that I really, really like.” :
“I’m writing another Jay and Silent Bob movie. I honestly didn’t think about doing it for… we had a plan to do the third Jay and Silent Bob movie when Jay’s daughter Logan was 18, and she could have done it .” she plays Harley’s daughter in the film. Harley played Jay’s daughter in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, so Logan was going to play Jay’s niece, and we thought she was going to be bullshit. But Mewes was just like, ‘So I have to wait ten years to make another movie?’ So I thought, ‘I guess you’re right,’ so I started thinking about this thing and started writing it, and I love it. I’m writing it the way I wrote Red State…whenever I know how. where the movie is going to go, that means the audience knows where the movie is going to go, and since it’s a movie with Jay and Silent Bob, and…I don’t know, the 18th…the audience probably knows where the movie is going to go.” A lot of what’s to come. Every time I feel this way, I turn things around and write something completely different. Every time I know what the punchline is, I force myself to come up with a different punchline to undermine it and stuff like that. So I’m using it as an exercise in sharpening the comedy knives, if you will.”
It will be fun to see what he has planned for these characters next. She released Jay and Silent Bob reboot in 2019 and fans seemed to appreciate it. Judging by the audience reaction to the podcast recording, fans are ready and excited for another Jay and Silent Bob movie.
