IDW announces GODZILLA VS MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS II and some covers

IDW Publishing in collaboration with Toho International, Inc and BOOM! Studios announced Godzilla vs. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers II. That’s right, the Power Rangers will battle Godzilla once again! Right now, Godzilla is trending thanks to Toho’s recently released fantastic Godzilla Minus One movie, and IDW is looking to capitalize on that popularity with the release of this new sequel comic.

In the story, “The evil Rita Repulsa joins forces with mysterious new allies Astronema and the Alliance of Evil to cause a whole new level of chaos. This action-packed cosmic crossover will also include familiar foes like SpaceGodzilla, Clawhammer, Tentacreep and more.

The sequel to the previous series is written by Cullen Bunn with art by Baldemar Rivas. Bunn promises that this is a crossover that fans of both franchises can’t miss because it will not only provide fan service but also some kaiju-sized surprises. He said:

“If I wanted to pit Godzilla against the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers again, I knew I would have to do something huge. Chaos alone wasn’t enough! And, believe me, what we’re doing in this new series is something wild, unexpected and revolutionary! If you’re a fan of the Rangers… if you’re a fan of Godzilla… if you’re a fan of crazy fun… buckle up! This series will blow your mind!”

Rivas continued that Bunn’s ideas for this sequel immediately convinced him to bring the script to life with his drawings: “Once Cullen told me what he was thinking of doing for Godzilla vs. Power Rangers, I knew I had to do it. “

The comic will have colors by Andrew Dalhouse and letters by Johanna Guzman. The debut issue will feature an A cover of Freddie Williams AND DalhouseCover B of Alex Sanchez and Matt Hermsand a cover of the RI of Hendry Prasetya AND Dalhouse.

Godzilla vs. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers II #1 will go on sale April 3, 2024.
