Jonathan Majors found guilty of assault and harassment

A New York jury recognized the Marvel actor Jonathan Majors guilty of third-degree reckless assault and guilty of harassment. The verdict was reached after a six-person jury deliberated for more than four hours spread over three days. Sentencing is scheduled for February 6 and the charges carry a sentence of up to one year in prison.

Majors was charged with four counts, including assault, aggravated harassment and harassment, stemming from an incident on March 25 when he contacted emergency services, claiming to have discovered his ex-partner, Grace Jabbari, unconscious in their shared residence. Upon their arrival, authorities arrested Majors, observing injuries on Jabbari such as a cut behind the ear and a broken and bruised finger. Majors maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to all charges.

As for the other two charges, Majors was found not guilty of third-degree intentional assault and not guilty of second-degree aggravated harassment.

Regardless of the ruling, the blow to Majors’ career has been dealt and there is no way to see him reprising his role as Kang the Conqueror in the MCU. If he attempts to start working in the industry again, he has a bumpy road ahead of him. But he made the bed and now he has to sleep in it.

District Attorney Alvin Bragg shared in a statement shortly after the verdict was delivered: “In the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, we are committed to survivor-centeredness in all of our work. The evidence presented throughout this study illustrated a cycle of psychological and emotional abuse and escalating patterns of coercion that are all too common in the many cases of intimate partner violence we witness every day. Today, a jury found that the pattern of abuse and coercion culminated in Mr Majors assaulting and molesting his girlfriend. We thank the jury for their service and the survivor for courageously telling her story despite having to relive her trauma on the witness stand.”

Ross Kramer, an attorney for Jabbari, said: “We are pleased to see justice served by today’s guilty verdict. Ms. Jabbari testified publicly and truthfully, although reliving these traumatic events on the witness stand was obviously painful. We are grateful to the jurors and the judge for their care and patience, and to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for their hard work and support. Ms. Jabbari’s determination to see this case through to the end demonstrates her extraordinary strength and resilience. Unfortunately, for every survivor like Ms. Jabbari who steps forward to hold their abuser accountable, there are many others who believe they cannot. We hope her actions inspire other survivors to speak their truth and seek justice.”

There was a lot of wild and crazy information that came out about Majors during the trial, revealing the kind of person he is and presented himself as. It was really sad to see the way he treated Jabbari and the jury obviously didn’t like what they saw and heard.
