Zack Snyder he’s gotten a lot of crap from critics over the years regarding the films he’s made. The director is no stranger to criticism, but there’s one thing one critic said about him that struck him.
During an interview with Men’s Health Snyder responded to a critic who said Snyder was “probably masturbating every time he says cut.” The director shared:
“A lot of intellectuals – I don’t know how you would say it, the elite cinephiles of the genre press – are kind of anti-me for whatever reason. “Zack Snyder probably masturbates every time he says cut.”
“I was just like, really? Do you think that’s a nice thing to say? Because you have this perception of me as some sort of supermacho: I don’t think I’m macho. I’m interested in masculine tropes. But like tropes.
Yes, Snyder definitely appreciates his masculine tropes, especially with his film 300, which he may actually make a sequel to one day.
Anyway, it’s pretty crazy and silly for a critic to say something so mean and disgusting about a director because he didn’t like a movie. I mean, you might not like his movies, but the guy is a real person with a family, and there’s nothing that justifies a comment like that. No. That’s definitely not a nice thing to say.
If a critic doesn’t like a movie, that’s fine, but at least contribute some constructive criticism.
