Natalie Portman plays an important role in Star Wars tradition, that of Queen Padmé Amidala, wife of Anakin Skywalker and mother of Luke and Leia. We met her in the prequel films, starting with Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, in which she played a teenage queen of Naboo who first met the child Anakin before their relationship, and his eventual turn to the dark side. But before the world knew the entire story of the prequel and Portman was synonymous with her Star Wars role, was able to attend the premiere of the first film and meet the royals right here on planet Earth.
Portman recalled meeting the now King Charles in a recent interview on See what happens live to promote his lively drama on Netflix May December. When host Andy Cohen asked him what it was like to meet the British royal family The Phantom Menace earlier, Portman recalled: “I remember Prince Charles, then he was Prince Charles, asking me if I was in the originals. I thought, “No, I’m 18!” But he was very friendly.
Portman said “no one asked her” to return to the Star Wars franchising, but “I’m open to it.” He said working on the prequel trilogy was “fantastic”, adding: “It was the first time I’d worked digitally. I don’t think anyone shot like that back then. It was the first time I worked with a green screen. It was about learning a whole new set of skills and entering a whole new world.
It would be difficult to bring Portman’s character back to… Star Wars universe, but stranger things have happened. Would you like to see it return?
