Lama star Mahershala Ali shared an update on the Marvel movie, which I’m really excited about. More than four years have passed since then Lama was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con, but it’s still on the way, and Ali’s update is optimistic. During a recent interview with EWHe said:
“We’re working on it. That’s the best I can tell you. I’m really encouraged by the direction of the project. I think we’ll be back there relatively soon. I’m genuinely encouraged as far as the situation goes and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script, the directing and everything. So that’s all I can tell you.
Lama it will be the second R-rated film released by Marvel Studios, the first being Shawn Levy AND Ryan Reynolds’imminent Deadpool 3. Yann Demange (Lovecraft Country) is directing the film, and previously said:
“We’re going to have fun because Mahershala is such a profound actor. I’m excited to show a kind of ruthlessness, a roughness that he has, that allows him to walk the earth in a particular way. I love him for this. He has dignity and integrity, but there’s a ferocity that he usually keeps beneath the surface. I want to free him and put him on the screen.
The film’s screenplay was initially written by Michael Starbury (When they see us) AND Nic Pizzolatto (True detective) is now working on the new draft of the screenplay. Mahershala Ali, My GothicAND Delroy Lindo they are destined to star in the film.
It was previously reported that Marvel was looking to adopt “a darker tone for this film than other MCU projects in the past.” I just hope the story of this movie ends up being great. There is so much potential!
