NewsNation will present the fourth Republican primary debate of the 2024 presidential election Wednesday night, broadcast live from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa on the network and on the NewsNation website and app starting at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT starts.
The debate will also be broadcast live on the CW stations in the Eastern and Central time zones and on the CW station KTLA-5 in Los Angeles.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie chose to participate in the final GOP debate after the field was recently narrowed when Scott dropped out of the race fell through Sen. Tim South Carolina shortly after last month’s third debate.
North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson are also still in the running, but failed to qualify for the second consecutive debate. The Republican Party’s front-runner in the polls, Donald Trump, has not participated in a debate so far this cycle and has called on the Republican National Committee to end it altogether.
Today’s debate will be co-moderated by NewsNation anchor Elizabeth Vargas with Megyn Kelly The free beacon of Washington Editor-in-Chief Eliana Johnson. A two-hour trip is planned.
To qualify for tonight’s debate, candidates must poll 6% or higher in two national polls or 6% in an early state poll in two separate “carved out” states (Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina) to reach; Have 80,000 individual donors on their primary campaign committee, including at least 200 individual donors in 20 or more states or territories each; and everyone must sign a pledge to support whoever later becomes the party’s candidate.
Trump is the only major Republican candidate who has not signed the pledge.
