Dove Cameron talks about the canceled POWERPUFF GIRLS pilot and what the series would have been like

Last year it was announced that the Super Goodies was getting a series on The CW, simply titled Powerpuff Girls. The show would reach Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, “who used to be little American superheroes but are now disillusioned twenty-somethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting. Will they agree to reunite now when the world needs them more than ever?

No, no, because it was announced that the series would be canceled a few months ago. The cast included Agents of SHIELD‘S Chloe Bennett like Fiore, Descendants actress Dove Cameron as Broadway veteran Bubbles Yana Perrault like Buttercup and Scrubs’ Donald Faison in the role of Professor Utonio.

Cameron has now spoken about what the series would be like, telling Elle:

“Let me just say that what we shot, I loved it, and it was one of the funniest things, and I think whatever I thought it was going to be, it wasn’t going to be that, and it was very campy and very sexy. and very fun , and I love Diablo Cody.”

The series, which followed the girls as “disillusioned twenty-somethings who regret spending their youth fighting criminals,” went through many changes before being axed altogether. It’s a shame that Cameron had a good experience, but he couldn’t follow through. I’m sure there would have been some kind of audience for the series, but I don’t know anyone who was particularly enthusiastic.
