Preview of next year’s Amy Winehouse film Back to black grows as Studiocanal unveils a second picture and announces release dates.
The film that tells the life of rehabilitation The singer Sam Taylor-Johnson, starring Marisa Abela, will be released in cinemas on April 12, 2024 in Britain and Poland, on April 18 in Germany, the Netherlands and Australia, as well as in France and New Zealand. Focus Features will soon announce the US release date, which will be after the UK.
The film’s logline reads: “Back to black will focus on Amy’s extraordinary genius, creativity and honesty that shaped everything she did. A journey that took her from the madness and color of 90s Camden High Street to global adoration – and back again. Back to black rush through the celebrity mirror to see that journey behind the mirror, to see what Amy saw, to feel what she felt.
Abela, who made her breakthrough on BBC and HBO industry, With Jack O’Connell, Eddie Marsan and Golden Globe and Oscar nominee Lesley Manville.
Back to black is written by Matt Greenhalgh, reuniting the author after her collaboration with Taylor-Johnson Nowhere son in 2009. With many hits from Winehouse, Back to black has the full support of Universal Music Group, Sony Music Publishing and The Amy Winehouse Estate.
