A sequel to the 2007 film I am legend is in the works, and Will Smith spoke to give fans an update on the process. Over the weekend, Smith appeared at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He explained that the upcoming sequel is based on the alternate ending used in the DVD release of the original post-apocalyptic sci-fi film, rather than its theatrical version, in which his character dies.
Smith, who is one of several A-list Hollywood guests at the third annual Red Sea Film Festival, also spoke Bad Boys 4in which he and co-star Martin Lawrence will reprise their roles in the previous sequels to the original hit 1995 crime drama.
He said of I am legend 2:
“I have a call with Michael B. Jordan tomorrow. We are very close, the script has just arrived. You have to be a real “I Am Legend” fan to know this, but in the first movie version, my character dies, but on the DVD there was an alternate version of the ending where my character lived. We are following the mythology of the DVD version. I can’t tell you anything else, but Michael B. Jordan is there.
The pair will co-star in and produce the sequel, which will likely release in 2025. Are you looking forward to this one? I am legend 2?
