Chris Pine got a role in ‘OC’ because of his looks, the cast claims

Long before his glamorous lead roles as Captain America and Admiral James T. Kirk Star Trek, Chris Pine missed out on a role because of his looks.

In the early 2000s, he was in the running for the role of Ryan Atwood in the teen drama that’s right But casting director Patrick Rush pulled it off because he had a common teenage problem.

Rush was interviewed for Alin Sepinwall’s new book Welcome to the OC: Oral History.

“I hate to say it, but it’s the truth: Chris Pine was at the age when he started having serious skin problems. And at that point it seemed insurmountable,” Rush said. “As a kid who grew up with horrible skin, it just broke my heart. But Chris Pine is fine now. He is doing well.”

Ben McKenzie won the role, but Pine moved on. He has appeared in shows like HE And CSI: Miami, He then made his big film debut in 2004 with Anne Hathaway The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.
