Second Wyatt Russellwho plays US Agent in the MCU, Marvel’s Lightning it won’t be a normal Marvel movie. During a recent panel hosted by MTV’s Josh Horowitz, Russell explained that he believes Thunderbolts will be unique and is very confident that it will be a film that fans will love… even though he hasn’t read the film’s full script yet. He said:
“I know [director Jake Schrier] so well and I know how smart Jake is and how much he cares about creating something interesting and different and using everyone’s talents to the best of their ability. And the story that I think they came up with is really interesting: I know some parts of the story and how it works, I can’t talk about it.
The actor has a lot of faith in the director of the film Jake Schrierand went on to explain that this won’t be the type of Marvel movie we’ve seen in the past, saying:
“But it’s not a simple Marvel movie like you’ve seen in the past. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, but I think it’s going to be something that I hope Marvel fans will watch and say, ‘Oh OK, this is it.'” a little different, let’s give it our all.” And as far as how we’re approaching it, it’s time to put in the work a little bit, it’s time to make a good Marvel movie, so let’s do it and work hard at it and don’t give things for granted.”
I hope the Lightning the movie ends up being a great and unique Marvel movie! I like the idea of these Marvel characters coming together for an adventure and it would be nice for the movie to tell a strong story with them.
The film has a great cast including Sebastiano Stan as Bucky Barnes, the leader of the Thunderbolts team, Davide Porto in the role of the Red Guardian, Julie Louis-Dreyfus as Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as a US agent, Hannah John-Kamen in the role of Ghost, Olga Kurylenko like Taskmaster and of course Florence Pugh in the role of Elena Belova. Then, there is Harrison Fordwho takes on the role of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who will become President of the United States in Captain America: New World Order. Ayo Edebiri he also joined the cast in an undisclosed role.
Lightning the release is currently scheduled for July 25, 2025.
