I don’t know about you, but I really liked it Frasier restart on Peacock. It was fun to find him again Kelsey Grammerit’s Frasier Crane again after all these years. Since the character now lives in Boston, I was wondering if we might see him Frasier Return to Greetings.
During a recent interview with Deadline, Grammer addressed this question and shared an idea for how to revisit Frasier’s past in the new series. When asked about a possible return to Cheers, the actor said:
“I’m not sure the guys who wrote Cheers would want us to go back to Cheers. It’s like, let’s just let it be where it is. It is a monument in the mind of television history. But is it possible that we will see someone from the old days again at the bar? Perhaps. I was just sputtering a little while ago about how it might be fun to do a Christmas show next year, Cheers Past Christmas. Frasier was able to revisit previously experienced scenes, such as when he had made a mistake. What could he do to fix it? [Laughs] I don’t know, it seems like a good idea and would be really fun. AND [the original cast] it shouldn’t even appear; they would just be old clips. But we’ll see.”
He went on to say that he would love to work with Ted Danson again and bring him on the show, but it’s an idea they haven’t quite figured out yet. He explained:
“You know, I love Ted [Danson] and work with him, so I would love to do something with him. We just haven’t broken that idea yet.
When asked about plans for a second season, Grammer said:
We’ve considered a few ideas, but they mostly revolve around the idea of Frasier finding happiness, becoming a good father, and making discoveries in college. Maybe Frasier could become an important person in someone’s life [as a professor]? He always gets into trouble one way or another, so I’m sure it will continue to happen. Who knows what will happen? We have really talented writers who will come to us with some ideas and we will discuss them. It’s a collaborative effort and I think we’ll be fine, but I have nothing to say at this point.”
I hope the show continues and has a new season, and it would be really cool to see some of the old Cheers again sometime. It would be a shame if Frasier didn’t include some of these at some point.
The show follows Frasier Crane “into the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally come true. Frasier is back in the building!”
Joining Grammer in the series we have Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s old college buddy-turned-college professor Alan; Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university’s psychology department; Jess Salgueiro as Freddy’s roommate, Eve; and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew David. Bebe Neuwirth she will also reprise her role as Dr. Lilith Sternin.
