Adam Sandler Says Roseanne Barr Was Originally Supposed to Sing His ‘The Chanukah Song’

Here’s a bit of curiosity Adam Sandler he recently dropped his classic “The Chanukah Song,” which he performed on Saturday night live. It turns out that Roseanne Barr he was originally supposed to sing the song before Sandler!

During a recent interview, Sandler shared the story of how he ended up performing the song, which he wrote himself in the week Barr was hosting the NBC late-night show in 1994. He told Access Hollywood:

“They were talking about Roseanne singing it, and she was kind enough to say ‘no, let Adam do it, it’s his, he wrote it, it’s his song.’

“I’m happy to be a part of Hanukkah. That was a beautiful time in life to associate with song and holidays. Very proud of this.

I appreciate that Barr knew that Sandler was the one who was supposed to sing this song and that he turned down the opportunity to perform so that he could.

Sandler went on to say that he still sings the song: “I sing it alone, I sing it without the kids, I go in our basement, I tear it up, I soft shoe it. No, if it comes on the radio and I hear it, I get excited, it’s still fantastic.”

I love that after all these years, Sandler still loves the song and raves about it! Sandler wrote the song after noticing that there was a lack of Christmas music dedicated to Hanukkah. This is a classic!
