Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves star Chris Pino feels confident about the chances of the fantasy adventure film getting a sequel. During a recent interview with GamesRadar+the actor was asked about the possibility of a sequel and was very optimistic about returning to the franchise:
“I’ve heard some rumors about it, but I don’t know anything about it yet. But I’m pretty confident it can happen.”
When we asked him if he would be happy to return, Pine replied: “Absolutely.” Pine had a blast making the first film and previously explained why he loves the franchise so much, saying:
“I’ve probably seen this movie more than a lot of my other movies because I love watching it with audiences. To come out and see the faces of the audience, you see exactly what cinema is supposed to do, which is that people are alive. They want to talk about it. I’m in a great mood. The world is so shitty, so why not use this vehicle – big budget cinema – to make people feel better.”
Writers and directors Jonathan Goldstein AND John Francis Daley he did something really interesting with this film and produced something that audiences liked. Pine also talked about how she wanted to give something genuine to the audience:
“There’s a little bit of swagger to this guy in this world, which I love. I’m a child of the 80s. So all my references were 80s. So this movie for me was like ‘Goonies’, ‘The Neverending Story’, it was a bit like ‘Indiana Jones’. Fast forward, and maybe it’s a little “Pirates.” All crushed together with his big heart. This is really more than anything else that I liked. I felt he was really honest, he was sweet. And I think Sweet has gotten a bad rap. Everything must be really cool these days, and I’m just too cool. I think beautiful is super boring. I want something that’s genuine.
I would love to see a sequel to Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves; it would be fun to see these characters go on another epic adventure.
I know Paramount Pictures was trying to build a huge D&D franchise because there is so much potential and there are so many different stories set in the D&D world. But the first film was a huge success at the box office. It did well, but not as well as the studio did. Only time will tell if the studio will actually tell more of these stories on the big screen. CEO of primary importance Brian Robbins he talked about a possible sequel and said, “We have to find a way to make it cost less.”
In the first film, “A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on an epic heist to recover a lost relic, but things go dangerously wrong when they fall in with the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary role-playing game to the big screen in a hilarious, action-packed adventure.
