Christopher Nolan’s next film project won’t be “as shabby” as OPPENHEIMER

Director Christopher Nolan he’s trying to move on Oppenheimer and do something different for his next film, something that won’t be “so bleak.” While Nolan is happy with the success of Oppenheimerit’s such a dark subject that he’s ready to leave that history behind and do something a little lighter.

During an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Nolan was asked how he relaxes after making something as dark as Oppenheimer and if there’s a part of him that now wants to do something lighter, like a romantic comedy, for his next project. He explained:

“Definitely… part of me wants to put the story behind me. I mean, you know, it’s a great privilege to be able to talk about a film that you made that’s now coming out in theaters, on 4K, Blu-ray and everything else. It’s great to be able to sit here and talk to you about the success of the film. It’s a huge privilege. But the topic is very dark. He’s nihilistic. And yeah, there’s a part of me that’s kind of eager to move on and maybe do something, you know, not so bleak.

It would be really interesting to see what Nolan would do with a romantic comedy. Nolan hasn’t announced what his next project will be, but he talked about the process of choosing his film projects, saying:

“Ideas come from everywhere. I’ve done a remake, adapted comics and novels, and written original screenplays. I’m open to anything. But as a writer and director, whatever I do, I have to feel like I own it completely. I have to make it original to me: the initial seed of an idea can come from elsewhere, but it must pass between my fingers on a keyboard and only come out through my eyes.”

I’m sure whatever kind of film Nolan tries to make next, there’s no doubt it will be an interesting subject. Personally I would love to see Nolan make a western, I bet he would do something amazing in that genre!
