THE INCREDIBLE HULK The writer reveals some strange changes made to the film by Edward Norton

The Incredible Hulk writer Zak Penn I recently talked about the 2008 film and some of the bizarre changes the actor made Edward Norton brought to the screenplay. These changes didn’t make much sense to Penn, and as you’ll see, there were actually pretty insignificant changes. It is suggested that these changes were made so that Norton could get a WGA credit on the project.

Penn shared the following information in the book “MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios,” and this is what he had to say about the changes made to the film:

“I had him walking east down the street wearing a blue hat and now he’s walking west down the street wearing a red hat. And I had called his downstairs neighbor Lorina, and he changed it to Malina or something like that.”

Penn then went on to talk about the big change Norton made at the end of the film which he obviously didn’t like, saying:

“There were some things at the end that he really changed. There was a scene where, when Ross picks up Banner from the hospital at the beginning of the movie, he throws him out of the helicopter. It was a pretty shocking moment. They moved him until the moment he chooses to jump to Harlem.

“So that’s a big difference: I felt that way [the original version] It would have been a really cool scene and I didn’t quite understand why he would jump into Harlem, given that he could theoretically kill a lot of people.”

Yes, that makes absolutely no sense. These are definitely some interesting and unnecessary changes made by Norton, but he gets credit for it. Many of the changes made were eliminated in the post-production process, such as Hulk not appearing until 40 minutes into the film. This is why Norton refused to promote the film.

Marvel Studios was unhappy with the way the actor behaved and publicly fired Norton, who was later replaced with Mark Ruffalo.

The Incredible Hulk it ultimately turned out to be a decent film, but only grossed $264 million globally.
