Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx starred in the 2004 film Collateral alongside the Oscar-nominated actor Tom Cruise. Although both actors are major stars and gave incredible performances in the film, and only one of them is an Oscar winner, the other was treated with a little more care on set when a small stunt went wrong .
CinemaBlend reports that several years ago Jamie Foxx appeared on The Graham Norton Show where he told a story from the set of Collateral, where Foxx played taxi driver Max, who is conscripted against his will as the driver of professional hitman, Vincent, played by Tom . Cruise. Foxx says that during filming, a stunt went wrong, resulting in a real car crash on set. Apparently, this made everyone rush to check on Tom Cruise, but no one seemed too concerned about Foxx. He explained:
“What happens is the car loses control and I crash into the car. And when they get there, they say, ‘Jamie, get out of the way, Tom! Are you OK?’ And that’s where you know where you are.”
Jamie Foxx laughs as he tells the story here, so even then he was clearly over it and, in retrospect, it was probably a lot of fun. It doesn’t appear that the accident caused anyone serious injuries, so I’m sure that’s why he was able to laugh it off. It’s one of those things that could make you really angry or sad if you didn’t have a good sense of humor about it.
The movie is one of my favorites, and Foxx got an Oscar nomination for it, so it worked out pretty well for everyone, and precious Tom Cruise continued to be fine, and went through many, many other things . dangerous stunts in the future.
