COYOTE VS. The ACME film is now being purchased by other distributors

COYOTE VS. The ACME film is now being purchased by other distributors

Last week it was announced that Warner Bros. scrapped its Coyotes vs. Acme, which caused a fair amount of outrage from fans and filmmakers. After the decision was made to shelve the film, WB was labeled an “anti-art studio.” The main purpose of scrapping the film was to register it for a $30 million tax credit, declaring the film a total loss.

Now, it’s being reported that WB will allow filmmakers to shop the film to Hollywood to find a new distributor. The report comes from Puck, who says WB film chiefs Mike DeLuca AND Pam Abdy he made this decision together with the head of animation Bill Damaschke.

It was also reported that the studio had already agreed to pay the director and some of the main stars a streaming bonus if the film was shelved, but the report makes it sound like it wasn’t a happy or pleasant conversation.

Director Dave Green previously spoke about the project, saying: “For three years I was fortunate enough to make a film about Wile E. Coyote, the most persistent, passionate and resilient character of all time. I was surrounded by a brilliant team, who poured have poured their souls into this project for years. We were all determined to honor the legacy of these historical figures and do them really well. Along the way, we were greeted by test audiences who rewarded us with fantastic scores. They are more than proud of the final product, and beyond devastated by WB’s decision. But in the spirit of Wile E. Coyote, resilience and tenacity win the day.”

Warner Bros. did not believe the project had enough appeal for a wide theatrical release. Well, I hope another studio picks this up and proves WB wrong. I would love nothing more than for the film to be released in theaters and then explode at the box office.

Coyotes vs. Acme was directed by Green, from a screenplay by Samy Burch and a story of James Gunn, Jeremy Slater and Burch. The story was partially inspired by a New Yorker article written by Ian Frazier in 1990, and John Cena stars in the film as the CEO of Acme.

Will Forte We previously talked about how much fun it was to make the film and also shared some details about the story, saying:

“I mean, it was so fun to make. It came out of an article that I think is decades old. Wiley Coyote sued the Acme Corporation because of all the different contraptions exploding in his face, and stuff like that. And so, I get to play Wile E. Coyote’s lawyer, and it’s a mixture of animation, and it’s like a Who Framed Roger Rabbit-style movie. And yeah, John Cena is great. There’s Lana Condor. It’s It was so much fun making it and these guys who are making it are so smart. Because you have to figure out where this animated character is going to go. It was great to be a part of. So, I’m excited to see how it turns out because, obviously, I act a lot. with a tennis ball. There’s a tennis ball for the eye line and it moves. So, yeah, I think I don’t know. I don’t know how much more I can say about that, but I kept babbling on for a while .

What are your hopes for this? Coyotes vs. Acme movie?
