MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Live-action film may be coming to Amazon MGM Studios

A live-action adaptation of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe It’s been in and out of development for a long time. It was recently produced by Netflix, but a few months ago the project was shelved by the streaming service after spending $30 million on its development.

It looks like the project will live to fight another day, this time at Amazon MGM Studios. They are currently in negotiations to take over the project, which was developed by Adam AND Aaron Neethe team of writers and directors behind it The lost city.

According to Variety, “If the studio moves forward, it will have to strike new deals with the Nees to polish the script and direct.” This is also confirmed Kyle Allen he is still attached to the role of He-Man. Mattel and producer Todd Black will also be looking for the film to get a significant theatrical release. This is something that wasn’t on Netflix’s table. It is also reported that the budget for the film will be around $170 million.

The film’s story would have focused on “an orphan named Adam who discovers that he is a prince destined to be the savior of a distant land. He must quickly learn his power and the importance of saving his true home from an evil force “. .”

Director Aaron Nee they previously said they wanted to keep things wild and crazy like the original animated series and compared the movie they’re making to Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok. He said:

“It’s a wild and crazy property, and we wanted to keep it wild and crazy. Like, it was just wacky characters, but what we wanted to keep was that too, what it was like to experience those toys and those cartoons as a kid. While kids, we took it completely seriously and, trying to tap into that, what did it make us feel in that moment? That power that made us feel, and that sort of wide-eyed wonder of the incredible things that can happen, and the incredible worlds that you can meet And so we want that wildness, but also that kind of reverence and love, with which we saw it through the filter of our children’s eyes.

“Those things [Masters of the Universe properties] they weren’t just huge successes thanks to clever marketing or something. He was tapping into something primal, something fundamental about us as children. It doesn’t matter whether the creators did it accidentally or out of genius. He was tapping into something. And that’s what we’re trying to hold on to: what was that spark inside us, as children? And so, we want that, at the core, that basic human connection that we felt when we weren’t saying, “Well, we’re adults now.” So we can’t really have a character called Ram-Man, we can’t really have Fisto.’ Instead, it’s like, ‘No, we’ll have it.’ How do you manage to involve yourself in all this kind of craziness and craziness, but do it with love and affection?”

CEO of Mattel Ynon Kreiz he also extolled the property’s value, saying, “It’s as big as Marvel and DC. There are hundreds of pages of characters, wizards, vehicles and weapons – you name it. And then you flip through the pages, and here’s a movie, and here’s a movie, and here’s a TV show. . . . it’s infinite!”

This movie franchise could really be huge! If the creative team and studio do it really well, Masters of the Universe it could be an insanely epic fantasy adventure, the same sale as The Lord of the Rings. If this movie happens, it’s what it needs to be. I’ve had my vision for what this franchise should be as a film, but I hope the creative team that was given the keys to the kingdom ends up doing it justice if this deal with Amazon MGM Studios closes.
