Netflix celebrates the reopening of Hollywood’s Egyptian Theater with a featurette on the restoration

Netflix has released a promotional video celebrating the grand reopening of the famous Egyptian Theater in downtown Hollywood. Along with the Paris Theater in New York, The Egyptian is now the second theater owned by Netflix.

The Egyptian Theater is an iconic and historic movie palace, which opened in 1922 and has hosted many major premieres over the decades. I’ve personally enjoyed watching films there over the years and now that the cinema is reopening, I can’t wait to watch many more!

From 1998 to 2020 the theater was owned and operated by the American Cinematheque, but is still part of it. Netflix will handle film programming Monday through Thursday and the American Cinematheque will handle it Friday through Sunday.

If you live in the Los Angeles area, the Egyptian Theater is a place to visit! Some of the movies I’ve seen there include Trick or treat, GI Joe: The Movie, Transformers: The Movieand more. It’s a beautiful experience! Zack Snyderthe next science fiction film Rebel moon will be shown there in 70mm and I can’t wait to see all the upcoming 70mm film screenings that will be hosted by the cinema.
