Netflix has released the trailer for its next film The archeswhich is an Indian adaptation of Archie’s classic comic adventures. The arches is a musical set in the 1960s. “Seen through the lens of the unique Anglo-Indian community, The arches explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak and rebellion.” The movie feels like a more traditional version of Archie, and it looks like a good movie that will be a lot of fun!
The film is said to transport “audiences into the whimsical world of 1960s Riverdale, India. The trailer reveals a musical narrative driven by seven charming characters from the beloved Archie comics, winding through the retro alleyways of love, friendship and youthful aspirations.”
The film was directed by Zoya Akhtarwho shared in a statement: “Having spent much of my childhood living in an Archie comic, I’m thrilled to introduce Riverdale to this generation. The characters are iconic, their teenage lives innocent, the world simpler, a era when less was more. Archie Comics, Netflix, Tiger Baby and Graphic India were in complete sync and wanted the adaptation to be as wholesome as the original comic was. This is clean content for young adults and was very fresh for me and Reema to work on. It’s also really exciting that a global IP has chosen the Indian film industry to make its first feature film. I’m excited to release it.”

The arches stars Point as Ethel Muggs, Agastya Nanda as Archie Andrews, Khushi Kapoor will take on the role of Betty Cooper, Mihir Ahuja as the ever-hungry Jughead Jones, Suhana Khan plays Veronica Lodge, Vedang Raina He will play Reggie MantelloAND Yuvraj Menda will play Dilton Doiley.
The arches will arrive on Netflix on December 7th.
