Netflix has announced a new animated film in the Witcher series titled The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. The film is based on Sorcerer author Andrzej Sapkowski’It’s the short story “A Little Sacrifice” and follows Geralt of Rivia as he is hired to investigate a series of attacks. There’s a great teaser trailer you can watch below.
In the story, “Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks on a coastal village and finds himself embroiled in an age-old conflict between humans and merfolk. He must rely on friends, old and new, to solve the mystery before hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into all-out war.
Doug Cockle, the iconic voice of the Witcher video games, returns to voice Geralt of Rivia. He will be joined by Joey Batey AND Anya Chalotra who return from The Witcher live-action series to voice Jaskier and Yennefer respectively Christina Wren joining the cast to voice Essi Daven.
Cockle said in a statement: “I’m super excited to announce my return to the world of the Witcher by once again voicing Geralt of Rivia, but this time in the upcoming animated film The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. It was an honor to work with Studio Mir and Netflix on this new animated film and I’m thrilled to be able to share this next chapter of the White Wolf’s journey with fans of the Witcher universe. Mire taedh aen stráede!”
The Witcher: Sirens of Deep will be released worldwide in late 2024. The renowned Studio MIR (The Legend of Korra and Netflix Voltron: legendary defender) is producing the animation for the film.
