The poster for Netflix’s live-action AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER series has been released

Netflix has released a new poster for the live-action series adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. It’s also been teased that a first look at the series will arrive tomorrow, so stay tuned!

The poster features the three main characters Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio Tarbell like Katara, and Ian Ousley as Sokka riding a Sky Bison.

In the series: “Water. Earth. Fire. Air. The four nations once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, maintaining peace among them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the Firebenders towards conquering the world. With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope. But like a light in the darkness, Hope emerges when Aang (Gordon Cormier), a young Air Nomad – and the last of his kind – awakens to take his rightful place as the next Avatar.”

The synopsis continues: “Alongside his new friends Sokka (Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio), siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed mission to save the world and fight off the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim). But with a motivated Crown Prince Zuko (Dallas James Liu) determined to capture them, it will not be an easy task. They will need the help of the many allies and colorful characters they meet along the way.”

There was a teaser trailer already released a few months ago, and here are some descriptions of the main characters that were shared.

Aang is “a fearless, fun-loving 12-year-old who happens to be the Avatar, the master of all four elements and the keeper of balance and peace in the world. An airbending prodigy, Aang is a reluctant hero, struggling to deal with the weight of his duties while maintaining his adventurous and playful nature.

Zuko is “a skilled firebender and the intense and guarded crown prince of the Fire Nation. Currently wandering the world in exile, he obsessively seeks to capture the Avatar because he believes it is the only way to reclaim his life and fulfill the demands of his cruel and controlling father, the Fire Lord.

Katara is “a determined and hopeful waterbender, the last in her small village. Although she is only fourteen years old, she has already had to face a great personal tragedy, which has prevented her from reaching her true potential, although she has never dimmed her loving and caring spirit.

Sokka is “Katara’s sardonic and resourceful sixteen-year-old brother. Seemingly confident, even brash, he takes his responsibility as leader of his tribe seriously, despite his internal doubts about his abilities as a warrior…doubts that he masks with his wit and deadpan sense of humor.

Here are the actors who play the characters of the Water Tribe: “Amber Halftone (Prey, Roswell) as Princess Yue, the compassionate spiritual leader of the Northern Water Tribe; A Martinez (Cowboy Bebop, Ambulance) as Pakku, the veteran waterbending master of the Northern Water Tribe and fierce defender of their traditions; Irene Bedard (Pocahontas, The Stand) as Yagoda, an empathetic healer who serves as a role model for the female waterbenders of her tribe; Joel Oulette (Trickster, Ruby and the Well) as Hahn, a strong and skilled warrior with an unwavering loyalty to his tribe; Nathaniel Arcand (Heartland, FBI: Most Wanted) as Chief Arnook, father of Princess Yue and respected leader of their tribe; AND Meegwun Fairbrother (Burden of Truth, Mohawk Girls) as Avatar Kuruk, a previous Avatar with a haunted past.

The Fire Nation includes: “Momona Tamada (Secret Headquarters, The Baby-Sitters Club) as Ty Lee, an energetic and optimistic teenager and one of Princess Azula’s best friends; Talia Tran (Raya and the Last Dragon) as Mai, an unflappable and impassive teenager who, along with Ty Lee, is one of Princess Azula’s closest allies; Ruy Iskandar (Yes Day, Benders) is Lieutenant Jee, the first officer of Prince Zuko’s ship; Hiro Kanagawa (Altered Carbon, The Man in the High Castle) as Fire Lord Sozin, the ruthless and ambitious former ruler of the Fire Nation and grandfather of Fire Lord Ozai; CS Lee (Dexter, Warrior) as Avatar Roku, a wise and benevolent Avatar from the Fire Nation’s past; François Chau (The Expanse, American Gigolo) as the Great Sage, the revered spiritual leader of the Fire Nation and guardian of the Avatar Roku shrine; AND Ryan Meh (The Good Doctor, Snowpiercer) as Lieutenant Dang, Commander Zhao’s second-in-command.

Takei (Star Trek) joins the spirit world by voicing Koh, an ancient predatory spirit. Randall Duk Kim (John Wick, Kung Fu Panda) will voice Wan Shi Tong, who appears in the form of a giant owl and is also known as the Spirit of Knowledge.

The creative team behind the series includes Alberto Kim (Sleepy Hollow), who is writing the series and serving as showrunner.
