On New Year’s Day earlier this year, it was reported that the Marvel actor Jeremy Renner he had a terrible accident with a snowplow, which almost took his life. After he recovered, he posted many posts about the physical trauma he suffered and also met with Diane Sawyer to talk about the impact of the near-death experience. Now, nearly 11 months later, Renner has provided another update on his life over the past year, telling CNN:
“I just feel very blessed and very lucky to be righteous and to be walking around and living life. I’m very, very clear. My waist is really slim, if that makes sense. There is no more fat in my life. I don’t have time for that. So, there’s something really cool about having that superpower. I was really clear about how I want to spend my time and who I want to spend my time with. This to me feels like a family, a kind of lifestyle that we talk about all the time. And then we have the spirit itself, it’s more of a shared experience. And for me that’s where I want to spend my time.”
He went on to add:
“There are many gifts I have received because of this. When you are tested physically, emotionally, spiritually, in every way, and then you overcome it, it’s something that’s hard to explain. Perseverance. Force. It’s all a mind game. I put it in my back pocket now. I know how to deal with pain. It’s all a matter of the mind. It’s all in the mind. If you can sift through the fog of all this, I’m very lucky.
He is certainly fortunate to have had neighbors who came to his timely rescue, as well as doctors who helped him, and a strong will to survive the ordeal. Renner’s current series, Renovationsis available to watch on Disney+, as are his Marvel films, in which he plays Hawkeye/Clint Barton.
