It turns out that the director Martin Scorsese and actor Robert De Niro they weren’t always impressed Leonardo Dicapriothe improvisation choices during filming The assassins of the Flower Moon. Scorsese shared that he and DeNiro would roll their eyes at DiCaprio when he tried different dialogue.
During an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Scorsese said:
“Every now and then, Bob and I would look at each other and roll our eyes. And we would say it [Leo]’You don’t need that dialogue.'”
The director explained that the two actors couldn’t be more different and added that some of DiCaprio’s creative choices were so “endless, endless, endless” that De Niro “didn’t want to talk”.
It makes me laugh to know that as much as Scorsese praised DiCaprio as an actor, there are things that still bother him.
The film is based on David Grannthe book of, Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, and the story is set in 1920s Oklahoma. It describes the serial murders of members of the oil-rich Osage nation, a series of brutal crimes that became known as the Reign of Terror. Here is a description of the story:
In the late nineteenth century, the Osage Indians were driven to a supposedly worthless expanse of land in northeastern Oklahoma. But it turned out that their territory sat atop one of the largest oil fields in the United States; to obtain that oil, prospectors had to pay rents and royalties to the tribe. By the 1920s, members of the Osage Nation had become the richest people per capita in the world. And then the Osage began to die under mysterious circumstances.
The film is now in theaters to see.
