Netflix has released a badass new trailer for its next original animated project Blue-eyed samurai. This series looks damn awesome and coming from the writer Michele Verdethat he worked on previously Logan AND Blade Runner 2049. This latest trailer delves deeper into the story the series tells and also shows off some awesome and wicked action sequences! Sounds like a series worth watching!
The series centers on an Edo period samurai in Japan seeking revenge. It is described as a “provocative and visually stunning film series” that “immerses the viewer in a world of vivid adult animation with a live-action twist. Set in Edo period Japan, Blue Eye Samurai follows Mizu (voiced by Maya Erskine), a mixed-race sword master living a life in disguise seeking liberation from vengeance.
Blue Eye Samurai will feature an impressive voice cast that includes Giorgio Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Masi Oka, Randall Park, Darren BarnettAND Brenda Song.
When the project was first announced, the creators Michele Verde AND Amber Noizumi shared in a statement, “Our story is an extraordinary action adventure that takes place 400 years ago, but the themes of Blue Eye Samurai are timely and the inspiration is deeply personal. We are grateful for Netflix’s passion for this story and for their bold vision of a sophisticated animated drama.”
The producers also intervened Mulan director Jane Wu to help develop the series. Blue-eyed samurai will be released on November 3rd.
