Universal Pictures is busy finishing the EXORCIST trilogy but will “rethink” the next two films

Despite the poor critical response from fans and critics for the director David Gordon Green’S The Exorcist: BelieverUniversal Pictures is still busy moving forward with the other two films, but that will mean some changes.

The Hollywood Reporter published a report stating that the studio is committed to finishing the new trilogy, but for how The Exorcist: Believer turned out and as it was received, “will almost certainly require some degree of creative rethinking for the next two films.”

The next film in the trilogy is titled The Exorcist: The Deceiverwhose release is currently scheduled for 2025. David Gordon Green he should return to directing, but recently expressed some doubts about it. When previously asked if he intended to direct the next two sequels, he said:

“I think the hope is… My intention is just to start doing things, and when those plans come to fruition, if I find myself in that situation [The Exorcist: Deceiver] director’s chair, I’d be thrilled. But right now, I’m navigating it from a story perspective and looking at the reality of my life as I pivot.

I did not like it The Exorcist: Believer at all, and I was actually pretty excited about it. But, while I’m curious how the studio will change things after that first movie, I’m not sure things will actually get better.

In the film, “Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding has raised their daughter Angela alone, but when Angela and her friend Katherine disappear into the woods, only to return three days later. later, with no memory of what happened to them, a chain of events is unleashed that will force Victor to face the lowest point of evil and, in his terror and desperation, to search for the only person alive who he has already witnessed something like this: Chris MacNeil. .”
