Robert Rodriguez offers an optimistic update on the ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL sequel

All the updates we have received on Alita: Battle Angel The sequel was pretty good and it seems like the movie is getting closer to reality. However, the project has yet to receive the official green light, but that could change soon once the smoke clears from the Disney-Fox merger. During a recent interview with The Wrap, director Roberto Rodriguez She said:

“Yes, Jim [Cameron] and I always talk about how much we would love to do another Alita. That study [20th Century] it was purchased by another studio [Disney]. They’re starting to make movies now. But for a while, 20th Century didn’t make any of its own films. I think you’re seeing some coming out now. We’d like.”

The latest update we had on the film came from James Cameron himself, who said they were planning more sequels, which would be awesome if it actually happened! I just hate that we had to wait so long for this sequel to get made.

Producer Jon Landau he previously talked about the sequel, saying, “We’re working on it,” and shared, “We’re very excited about that prospect. Alita is a movie that, even though we reviewed it recently for what we had, we’re not really proud of that movie. And we think there’s more stories to tell with his character and that’s why we want to come back.”

The producer also explained that when they make the film, they will use the cinema technology created to help bring it Avatar 2: The Way of Water to life: “I think what we learned from Avatar is how much more nuance and facial subtlety we can put into the characters that we want to be emotional and that are humanoid. Alita wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for what we did on Avatar. Avatar: Way of Water would not be what it is but what we did for Alita. And now let’s put it back and give it back to Alita. We are talking to Robert and Rosa and everything is fine.

The film is based on the manga series Gunnm Of Yukito Kishiro. The story is set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the Iron City landfill by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who brings the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens, she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to protect her from her attacks. mysterious past.

Cameron and Rodgriguez initially planned a trilogy of films, and Cameron wrote more than a thousand pages of notes that would cover the entire story. I really want to see that story come to life, so I hope this creative team has the opportunity to do that.
