If you liked it Dan Trachtenbergis fantastic Predator movie, Prey, I have a video here for you to watch. It is a pre-visualization treetop chase sequence that was not included in the final cut of the film.
This is an intense scene that sees the Predator chasing the story’s hero, Naru, through the treetops. It would have been an interesting sequence and I think it would have worked, but the film ultimately was great regardless.
Trachtenberg spoke to Polygon about the scene and why it wasn’t included in the final cut: “The pre-visualization sequence… I was so excited. But I was worried [the treetop chase] being too imaginative for the film. And we really had to fine-tune the execution so it didn’t feel silly when so much of the film and its action is quite grounded. As excited as I was about that kind of physicality and Naru and that chase style on screen, I was pretty nervous. But I liked how the clip cut was used in that sequence, and I thought it was a pretty clever thing for Naru to do. So I’m happy that it can exist now.
The film’s story is set in the Comanche nation 300 years ago. The film follows a young woman named Naru, “a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She grew up in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a ferocious and terrifying clash between the two adversaries.
The film’s cast includes Amber Halftone, Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (So yes), Michelle Tordo (The journey home), AND Julian black antelope (Tribal). I can’t wait for the sequel!
