SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Concept Art Reveals an Alternate Version of Who Saves MJ and It’s Not Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man

Some new concept art has been revealed Spider-Man: No Way Home and reveals an alternate version of how MJ was saved in the film. While it was one of the highlights of the film and a sweet moment of redemption, it wouldn’t always be this way Andrea GarfieldThe incredible Spider-Man who saved MJ.

Conceptual art Phil Saunders reveals that MJ was originally going to be saved by Dr. Strange’s Cloak of Levitation! He shared with art:

“Redemptive moments like saving MJ [Andrew Garfield’s] [Spider-Man] In [Spider-Man: No Way Home] they seem inevitable in retrospect, but in practice it takes a bit of research to get there. In an earlier version of the script, [MJ] she was dropped and died, only to be saved by Dr. Strange’s Cloak of Levitation.

“This led to a liberating moment of freedom for MJ as she experienced flight on her own, but ultimately we would have missed out on one of the most cathartic moments in the entire Spider-Man series. It was still fun, trying to capture that feeling of weightlessness in MJ’s pose.”

Yes, this would have been a fun and charming moment, but it definitely wouldn’t have hit as hard as Garfiel’s Spider-Man saving her. The scene, such as it is, plays out perfectly. But it’s nice to see what could have been.
